About The Doctor

Dr. Tanoory, or Jason as he prefers to be addressed by his patients and staff, moved to Canandaigua in 2001. After associateships in Philadelphia, PA, Rochester NY and Penn Yan he opened Finger Lakes Dental Care in 2002. Dr. Jason received his higher education at the University of Dayton, in Ohio where he received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering, and minored in Biochemistry. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia. He received an Advanced Education in General Dentistry degree at The Eastman Dental Center in Rochester. In addition to Jason's formal education he has completed over 1,000 hours of continuing education in the past 4 years. The state requires 20 hours per year. The spectrum of this advanced education ranges from Cosmetic Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Endodontics, and Implant Placement, to Denture Therapy and Sedation Dentistry. Jason recently received a Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry. He also has a fellowship from The International Congress of Oral Implantology.

Jason is a member of the American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, The Academy of Family Dentistry, the Monroe Dental Society, The Sedation Dentistry Association, Congress of Oral Implantology and The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Jason has lectured and helps to educate fellow dentists on various topics from practice management to clinical skills. He has had several articles published in local newspapers, dental magazines, periodicals and dental websites. In addition to helping/educating others in the field of dentistry he is also active in the community educating the community on various dental topics at local businesses, retirement and senior homes as well as attending primary schools throughout the Finger Lakes.

Jason is blessed with a wonderful wife, Kara, and three beautiful children, Anna, Olivia and Jack. They also have two labrador retrievers, Dakota and Henry. His growing family lives here in Canandaigua.

In his spare time Jason is training and competes in triathlon events and is currently training for Ironman Lake Placid in 2008. He also enjoys reading, golfing and basketball.

Cindy Cooper – Office Manager
Cindy has been with Finger Lakes Dental Care since 2004. She has 9 years of dental experience, 16 years in the Medical Field and 2 years marketing experience. She has a degree in Business Management and Computer Science. She is a certified HIPAA educator. She averages 20 hours per year of continuing education each year. Most recently this year attending updates for NYS Collection Laws, Medical /Dental Risk Management, yearly OSHA and HIPAA updates, Medical to Dental Cross Coding and also a policy and procedure writing class. Cindy is a member of the American Association of Dental Office Managers and is an honored member and is listed in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry of Business Executive and Professionals. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, gardening, interior decorating, crafts, traveling and entertaining friends & family at home.

Megan Meek – Patient Relations
Megan is one the offices Patient Relations staff members she has been with the office since 2004. She will assist you with everything from understanding your insurance benefits and making financial arrangements to making sure you have fresh cup of coffee at your visit. Megan has worked in the service industry for 10+ years. If you or a family member has an upcoming appointment or are in the office and have any special needs please let Megan know she would be glad to help. When Megan isn't at Finger Lakes Dental Care helping our patients she enjoys running, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

Amy Ells – Patient relations
Amy is one of our offices Patient Relations staff members. She will help you with everything from scheduling your appointment to making sure the television in the waiting room is on a station that you enjoy. Amy comes to us after completing her degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing at SUNY Fredonia. She has worked in the customer service field for over five years. In her spare time she enjoys crafting, traveling and reading.

Our Dental Assistants

Diane Saxton – NYS Certified Dental Assistant
Diane is one of our offices Dental Assistants; she has been with our office since 2003. Diane has close to 20 years of dental experience with an extensive background that ranges from Endodontics to Cosmetic Dentistry. She is CPR certified and is certified by the Dental Assisting National Board and is licensed by NY State. She attends an average of 50 hours of continuing education per year (the state only requires 12). Diane's outside activities include photography, refinishing old furniture, walking and spending time with her kids and her pets.

Pam Buchholz – NYS Certified Dental Assistant
Pam is one of our offices Dental Assistants; she has been with our office since 2004. Pam has almost 20 years of dental experience with an impressive background that varies from oral surgery to sedation dentistry. She is CPR certified and is certified by the Dental Assisting National Board and is a member of the National Association of Dental Assistants. Pam and Dr. Tanoory often work together educating our local communities and schools on various dental health topics. She attends an average of 50 hours of continuing education each year (the state only requires 12). Outside of work Pam volunteers in her daughter's classroom and is a girlscout troop leader, she also enjoys crafts knitting and puzzles. Her son recently graduated from the US Air Force basic training.

Edith Byington – NYS Certified Dental Assistant
Edith is one of our offices Dental Assistants; she has been with the office since 2006. She has 12 years of experience in the dental field with advanced training and experience working with children and orthodontics. Edith is CPR also certified. When she isn't in the office assisting Dr. Jason, she is busy at home with her husband and 2 children. She is also a member of the Prattsburgh Protective Auxillary. She enjoys doing cross stitching and gardening.

Our Dental Hygienists

Shelly Turner – Registered Dental Hygienist
Shelly is one of our offices Dental Hygienists, she has been with our office since 2003. Shelly has 14 years of dental experience. She has an AAS degree in Dental Hygiene and is certified in Anesthesia and Nitrox Oxide administration and is CPR certified. Shelly attends and average of 20 hours of continuing education per year (the state only requires 10). Shelly is just beginning to take classes to obtain her BA in Dental Hygiene. In her spare time Shelly enjoys drawing, painting, reading and tennis.

Julie Hagel - Registered Dental Hygienist
Julie is one of our offices Dental Hygienists, she has been with our office since 2005. She has an AAS degree in Dental Hygiene and is a Certified Dental Assistant as well. She is certified in Anesthesia and Nitrox Oxide administration and is CPR certified. NY State requires hygienists to attend 10 hours of continuing education to maintain their license Julie attends an average of 15 per year. Julie has been the recipient of several awards in patient care as well as excellence in clinical dental hygiene. She has had articles published in the Daily Messenger regarding dental anxiety and periodontal disease. Julie's outside interests include exercising, spending time with her children, working on home projects and watching old movies.

Jane Morris – Registered Dental Hygienist
Jane has been with Finger Lakes Dental Care since 2006. She has been a Dental Hygienist for 17 years and was a Certified Dental Assistant for 6 years prior to obtaining her AS degree in Dental Hygiene. When Jane took her clinical State boards she earned a 100% grade! She was the 29th person in NY State to be certified to give anesthesia/analgesia, she is CPR certified. She attends numerous hours of continuing education each year to stay on top of the newest advances in dental hygiene. Jane is a member of the ADHA and DHASNY and a trustee for the HYPAC. She has been the President of the 7th District Hygiene Association since 2004. Jane has an varied back ground working as part of a dental migrant program, she has worked in geriatrics for many years at local nursing homes, she also helped to establish a dental hygiene program for grades K-2. Jane has volunteered doing free daylong oral cancer screenings for the community, has also visited local schools and preschools helping to educate children regarding dental health. Jane is also active in the community as a member of the Women's Auxiliary for the Prattsburgh Fire Department; she is a pack 34 Cub Scout committee member and has taught religious education for 7 years. At home Jane enjoys baking, parrots and drag racing.

Jennifer Morello – Registered Dental Hygienist
Jennifer has 10+ years Dental Hygiene experience. She has an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene and a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Care Administration. She continually reads hygiene and dental publications to research new products and services for our patients. Jennifer takes an average of 20 continuing education hours per year, which is double what is required by New York State. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and cooking.
